Family profiles
DoseAlert lets you keep separate profiles on one phone — each with its own medications, reminders, and history. Great for tracking a parent or partner's meds alongside your own.
What a profile is
A profile is a completely separate set of medications, reminders, and dose history. Switching profiles is instant and doesn't require any sign-in. You can have as many profiles as you need.
Typical uses:
- Yourself plus an elderly parent you help manage
- Two partners sharing one phone for medication tracking
- A parent tracking a child's medications separately from their own
Adding a profile
- Tap the Family tab at the bottom of the screen.
- Tap Add profile.
- Enter a name (e.g. "Mom" or "Dad").
- Save.
The new profile is empty to start. Add medications the same way you do for yourself.
Switching between profiles
On the Family tab, tap any profile to switch to it. The Today view, Pill Tracker, Meds, and Settings tabs all update to show that profile's data.
The profile picker shows the current profile at the top and a quick switch to any other profile in your list.
Renaming or removing a profile
Long-press a profile on the Family tab to rename it, or tap the edit icon and choose Delete. Deleting a profile removes all of its medications, reminders, and dose history. This is permanent — export a backup first if you want to keep the records.
Reminders across profiles
Reminders fire regardless of which profile is currently open — DoseAlert never misses a reminder just because you're looking at a different profile. Each reminder clearly names the profile it belongs to ("Mom's 8 AM: Metformin").
Pairing a caregiver from a profile
Caregiver pairing is per-profile. For example, your own profile might be paired with your spouse, while Mom's profile is paired with her other child who also helps. See Caregiver pairing.
Privacy
All profile data stays on your device. No cloud sync, no accounts. If you delete the app, all profile data is deleted with it. Use Settings > Back up data before uninstalling to keep a copy.
